Training Philosophy
We prioritize judgment, seamanship, and communication under real conditions. Training is structured and practical enough to transfer directly to live cruising environments.

We prioritize judgment, seamanship, and communication under real conditions. Training is structured and practical enough to transfer directly to live cruising environments.
Students are active participants in watch duties, route checks, and vessel operations. The goal is capable leadership on the water.
Instructor/Captain
2020, 2021, and 2022 ASA Outstanding Instructor of the Year (Top 1% of 900+ instructors).
Jason was born and raised in Myrtle Beach and has spent most of his life on the water. After college and a career in graphic and web design, he and his wife Amy returned to the coast to build a life and career around sailing.
His sailing journey accelerated when his family purchased a 44' CSY for local cruising and charter work. He progressed from crew to ASA student to professional instructor while also serving as a part-time charter captain.
In 2013, Jason launched Myrtle Beach Sailing School and in 2014 moved to a formal ASA certification pathway to give students clearer standards and stronger long-term outcomes.
Today, he teaches throughout the East Coast and Bahamas, focusing on confident boat handling, practical navigation, and strong crew communication that hold up in real offshore conditions.
Storyteller (Elan Impression 444, 45ft) is the offshore training platform supporting practical seamanship, passage planning, and real-world decision making.
You train with an award-winning instructor in a practical on-water environment designed to build confidence, not just checkboxes.
